The 2026 branch elections of the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) in Kericho County have concluded, ushering in a new team of officials to lead the teachers’ union.
Mary Rotich emerged as the Executive Secretary after a decisive victory.
Rotich secured 2,569 votes to defeat her closest challenger, Paul Biegon, who garnered 305 votes in a hotly contested race.
Her landslide win reflects strong support from union members and confidence in her leadership to champion teachers’ welfare and professional interests across the county.
The elections, described by stakeholders as peaceful and transparent, also produced a full team of branch officials, with all sub-counties securing representation in the union’s leadership structure — a move expected to enhance inclusivity and regional balance in decision-making.
