Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has vowed to ensure that no needy student is denied an education due to lack of school fees.

Speaking during his State of the County address, Arati emphasized the importance of the County Bursary programme which has been re-introduced to support poor children.

He revealed that the programme has already disbursed a total of Ksh145 million, with each of the 45 Wards receiving Ksh3 million.

The governor revealed that the aim is to reach all deserving and talented children in the villages, which is crucial in helping children from humble backgrounds achieve their dreams.

The county has increased the bursary allocation to Ksh225 million in this financial year, which means that the total for each Ward will increase to Ksh5 million.

In addition, the governor launched the Elimu na Simba scholarship, a personal initiative aimed at sponsoring financially disadvantaged children to access secondary education.
