Governor Simba Arati of Kisii County has asked all school Boards of Management (BoMs) to give tree planting priority in their institutions to create good environments for study.

The governor said that apart from preventing soil erosion, trees are very important for human beings because they beautify the environment.

He advised them to plant eco-friendly trees to increase the productivity and longevity of Mother Earth.

The governor, who was speaking at Suneka town in a public gathering, invited environmental volunteers and individual researchers and groups to join hands and map the best way forward in mitigating climate change, which is a global threat.

“Climate change is a man-made global disaster that must be prevented, avoided and fought with all available resources,” he said.

The governor gave 8100 seedlings to be distributed equally among three selected primary schools from each of the 45 Wards in the county.
