Application for university, college placement extended indefinitely

Dr Agnes Mercy Wahome, KUCCPS CEO. The agency has extended the deadline for application for university placement indefinitely.

The deadline for application for university placement has been extended indefinitely to enable all potential applicants to get a chance after difficulties emerged in accessing the portal.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) had set its deadline on February 26, 2024 (today), forcing late applicants to burn the midnight oil Sunday in a bid to get over the line before it closed.

In a press statement, the placement body said it had extended the deadline until all targeted students have applied.

During the ongoing process, the statement said, all students are first-time applicants since KUCCPS discontinued application at the school level.

Since payments for government services have been migrated to the e-Citizen platform, the statement further said, the process of payment validation for KUCCPS applicants is longer than before.

The statement signed by the chief executive (CEO) Dr Agnes Wahome said the applicants are advised to avoid double payments.

The processing of applications will start once KUCCPS is sure all applicants have their courses forwarded based on the targeted number of students.

Dr Wahome said this will ensure that no one will be disadvantaged based on the day or time they made their applications.

After the placement exercise, there will be two revision opportunities that will be provided for those who will not have applied, or those who will not have secured their selected courses.

“KUCCPS is working closely with the relevant stakeholders in government to ensure that all applicants are enabled to submit their choices in the spirit of leaving no student behind,” the statement said.

KUCCPS opened its portal for the application and placement in universities and colleges on February 7, 2024.
