Another Ebenezer Academy pupil succumbs to injuries from Kaburengu accident

The number of deceased pupils from the road accident that took away the lives of 7 Ebenezer Academy pupils at Kaburengu along Webuye-Eldoret Highway on Saturday has reached eight.

This is after one of the 4 pupils who were in ICU at Bungoma Referral Hospital died last evening, according to school Headteacher James Ouma.

The three other students are still in critical condition, although their two teachers and the school driver are improving.

“One of the teachers’ legs was operated on and is recovering. The other nine pupils who got minor injuries during the accident have already been discharged from hospital,” disclosed Ouma.

Meanwhile, the school held a funds drive on Wednesday at the school to help foot the hospital bills of those injured and funeral expenses of the deceased.

A requiem mass for the departed souls is slated for today, June 29, at Busia Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in Busia town from 10am while burial of the dead will take place on Saturday at their individual homes.

“Two pupils will be buried on Saturday, one at Busire near Bumala in Busia County and another one in Kendu bay, Homabay County next weekend,” said Ouma.
