Angry MP tells off colleagues who want NGCDF scrapped

Peter Masara, Suna West MP, has blasted his legislative colleagues for mooting the scrapping of NGCDF.

Suna West MP Dr Peter Masara has cautioned overzealous legislators against the idea to scrap NGCDF because it will adversely affect growth of the education sector.

Addressing the public during the unveiling of a modern classroom at Oruba Primary in his constituency, Masara said the NGCDF money has helped many students from poor families to access education, which has been the preserve of the rich until the fund was established.

“Those who are advocating for the removal of the funds from constituencies are like mad men who cannot value the importance of clothes even if you try to dress them,” he said, challenging those opposed to the fund to take a survey in every household in the country to see if there are those who think like them.

He told off the Senators who are championing the removal of the kitty, saying they should have the interest of the people at heart.

“I have a boy from Oruba Secondary who will graduate from Kenyatta University with first class honours in ICT… and then you tell us to scrap the funds!” he fumed.

His sentiments were backed by a number of MCAs who asked the legislators to find ways of harmonizing the way the funds should work instead of attempting to kill it.
