Andersen Vocational Training Centre (VTC) has emerged as a top-performing institution after being ranked first in Trans Nzoia County and second nationally in the latest TVETA Quality Audit, marking a significant milestone in the region’s technical training sector.
The achievement was celebrated during a colourful thanksgiving ceremony held at the institution, drawing education stakeholders, local leaders and members of the community.
Speaking at the event, County Director of Vocational Training Eliud Lusweti lauded the centre for its exemplary performance, terming the recognition a proud moment for the county. He noted that the institution’s success demonstrates that even centres located in remote parts of the region can attain national prominence through dedication and teamwork.
“This achievement is a result of strong commitment from the management and staff. For any institution to attain such quality recognition, there must be close collaboration between the board, management and all stakeholders,” Lusweti said.
He further attributed the milestone to the sustained support of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, whose administration has prioritised vocational training as a pathway to youth empowerment. Lusweti noted that the county government’s focus on equipping young people with technical skills is already bearing fruit, with many trainees gaining competencies that enhance self-employment opportunities.
According to the county director, the Department of Vocational Training is now intensifying efforts to improve standards across all 32 vocational centres in the county, with the aim of ensuring they achieve competitive rankings in future quality audits.
Lusweti also commended Andersen VTC for its holistic approach to training, highlighting not only strong academic performance but also impressive achievements in co-curricular activities, particularly sports. He said the centre has demonstrated all-round excellence, positioning itself as a model institution in the vocational training sector.
“We sincerely thank our partners, leaders and the community for their unwavering support. Together, we continue to build a brighter future through vocational training both in the county and across the country,” he added.

In a show of spiritual support for learners, a special mass was held for candidates preparing to sit for the April NITA examinations. The service, led by Fr Crispin, offered prayers and blessings, with speakers expressing confidence in the candidates’ preparedness and potential for success.
Students, staff and invited guests joined in the celebrations, which were marked by song, dance and speeches reflecting pride in the institution’s accomplishment. Officials expressed optimism that the national recognition will boost enrolment at Andersen VTC while strengthening Trans Nzoia’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence in vocational training.
