Amukura Teachers Training College (TTC) in Teso Central Sub-County, Busia County has officially been accredited by the Ministry of Education to offer Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) programs, beginning in September 2025.

The announcement was made by Teso South Member of Parliament, Mary Emase, who hailed the approval as a major milestone for the region’s education sector.

“This milestone confirms that Amukura TTC has met all the national requirements in terms of curriculum, staff, and facilities,” said Emase. “The college is now fully eligible for KUCCPS placement and government funding.”

To commemorate the achievement and boost enrollment, the MP pledged to personally sponsor the first 100 students who will be joining the college in its inaugural diploma intake.

“This is a win for our community and a step forward in strengthening education and opportunities for our young people in Teso South,” she added. “Let us continue working together to build a brighter future through education.”

The approval of Amukura TTC is expected to increase access to quality teacher education in the region and ease the burden on students who previously had to travel long distances to pursue similar programs.

Education stakeholders in the area have welcomed the development, describing it as timely and transformative.
