Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki (pictured) has said alcohol and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) are the biggest obstacles to the Government’s free secondary education drive in Embu County.
She said raised concern over many bars opening at 8am and operating until the wee hours of the morning, many youths spending their time spending rather than studying.
Speaking in Embu town, Ms Kariuki said the both illicit brew and licensed alcohol in the region was a hindrance to free secondary education that would see a 100 per cent transition to Form One.
