Just one week before school reopening for term one, Khayega location Chief Mr. Gerald Murunga has called on parents in his location to ensure their children go to school when they open.

While speaking in a funeral at Lugango village in Shirulu Sub-Location, Kakamega County, the Chief reiterated the government’s policy of 100 percent transition saying no school going Child should be found at home when learning is ongoing.

“We want to have all the children in school when they open on 25th of this Month. We shall not allow any Child to stay at home when the government is doing everything to see that our children are going to school and getting the necessary education for a bright future.” Murunga stated

The administrator added that parents shall be liable for the children who will not go to school and emphasized that girls should not be neglected saying that they should be given equal opportunities to get education just as their male counterparts.

“When you educate a girl, you have educated a community, girls play a very important role in our families and they are able to lift lives within the family from which they are born and those they are married to.” He stated

His sentiments were echoed by Shirulu Sub-location assistant chief Mr. Dennis Muchela who warned that parents who will not allow their children to go to school for their own personal reasons will face the law for overlooking the government’s policy on education of the children.
