Human rights activists fighting for Children rights in Bungoma County have called upon Governors to allocate funds to support children’s programmes in the counties.
Speaking at Xavarian Brothers’ School in Bungoma County during the Children’s assembly, David Lupao, Chairman Bungoma County Children Rights Network (BCCRN) said that many children are undergoing diverse challenges and that there is need for the county governments to allocate resources to support children programmes.

He said the challenges that children undergo include; child labour, child trafficking, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), defilement and child abuse.
He said that BCCRN is a Community Based Organization that fights for the rights of the children in Bungoma County.
Lupao however called on parents and guardians to be invest in their children’s future noting that Bungoma has been in bad records due to the high numbers of teen pregnancies and gender based violence.

Lupao said that if the county governments allocate funds towards children’s programmes, then it will be aiming at improving the child nutrition, health and education.
Nabakwe Naube, Bungoma County Children’s Officer said that the children assembly happens in the entire country when schools are closed.
Naube added that after the three-day meeting, children develop memoranda and presents it to both the county and national governments.
