Construction of new Kenya Medical Training College has kicked off at Tseikuru in Mwingi North Constituency, Kitui County.

KMTC board Chairman Philip Kaloki, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and area MP Paul Nzengu graced the ground breaking ceremony.

Professor Kaloki said the idea of establishing the institution in the area was a request from Kalonzo to address the plight of the locals who have been traveling for over 100 kilometers to access medical care.

“KMTC board has set aside Sh100 million for construction of learning facilities on a 25-acre piece of land donated by the community. We will introduce numerous courses,” added Kaloki.

He noted that Kitui and Mwingi KMTC campuses have recorded increased number of students with a total population of 1000 and 500 respectively.

MP Nzengu promised to allocate Sh 25 million from NG-CDF kitty to kick-start the construction of the college. He called upon the residents to support the facility as their own encouraging them to enroll their children in large numbers when the first intake will be conducted.
