Parents resist transfer of students from collapsed Precious Talent School

Parents insist on their children remaining at Precious Talent School despite tragedy that occurred at the school leaving eight pupils dead.

Linet Kwamboka is unable to raise Sh 55,000 for treatment required for her daughter who was injured during the tragedy.  She is home nursing a broken ankle and the mother want her to remain at the school and sit for her KCPE.

Parents said they preferred the school for its exemplary performance since it post many pupils with over 400 marks, affordability, and ease of access.

They complained the public schools Ngong Forest Primary, Riruta Satellite and Jamhuri Primary recommended to them by the government are far from their residence a distance of up to three kilometers. The schools also perform dismally in KCPE.

James Nyabuto a father of two at the school said that the pupils had discussion groups and were close to each other splitting them would affect their performance.

He said the children should continue learning especially the candidates, as they seek a long-term solution.

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha spoke at Ayany primary school where more than 250 pupils are expected to report from their shut schools he noted that politicians have been confusing parents and that is why there is a low turnout in some schools. The CS said is doing his duty to ensure the tragedy does not happen again.
