20-year-old prisoner sits KCPE in Kitui

A 20-year-old man serving 20 years imprisonment sat Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam under tight security.
The inmate Joseph Wambua Muthui was imprisoned for defilement.
Waita GK prison warden John Koech said Muthui sat his exams at Waita Primary under very tight security. He was schooling at the same school before imprisonment. “He has his own invigilator and he is alone in class as well, but we hope everything will be okay,” said Koech.
Koech added that Muthui who comes from Migwani Sub County in Mwingi West Constituency is serving a jail term of 20 years for defilement. This year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) kicked off smoothly in Mwingi Central Constituency, Kitui County.
In Mwingi Central there are a total of 3465 candidates 1698 boys and 1767 girls sitting for KCPE.
