Second phase of teacher digital training kicks off

The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has kicked off the second phase of training teachers on the use and integration of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in their work.
Consequently, the 175 secondary school teachers drawn from across the country will be identified as champions and would be expected to effectively use ICT to improve the learning outcomes.
In an internal memo by newly appointed Director Quality Assurance and Standards Nthamburi Mugwuku said the training will equip participating teachers on a number of skills.
“You are required to invite respective teachers to the three days training scheduled for 6th August to 10th August, 2018 to the centres identified,” the internal memo reads in part.
Dated 31st July, 2018, the internal memo TSC/QAS/ICT.INTER/VOL.1./32/1 is addressed to all TSC county directors.
Under the ICT Championship Training Program 2018, a teacher will be equipped on the use of ICT tools, applications and content for teaching and learning (Integrate ICT in creating schemes of work, lesson plans & ICT enabled Lessons).
Besides, the teachers will gain skills and ideas on the exam analysis, general data management in school, online evaluation and data collection using Google Forms from the training. It will also train teachers and support ICT initiatives at the Sub County level and beyond collaborate and share information.
Teachers from secondary schools under the programme in Western Kenya and Nyanza regions are expected to be meeting at the Eregi Teachers Training College (TTC) for the three day event.
Those from the larger Mount Kenya region and Kitui County are expected to undergo their training at the Kigari TTC, Embu.
Those from Nairobi, Machakos and Makueni Counties and Coastal regions would be meeting at the Shanzu TTC, Mombasa while those from schools within the Rift Valley will be meeting at the Mosoriot TTC.
