Nyeri County Government and the Kenya Medical Training College have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see a medical college established in Mukurwe-ini Constituency.
Already the County Government has provided about nine acres of land at Wamutitu village.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and the KMTC Board of Management led by the Chairman, Prof. Phillip Kaloki and Vice- Chairman, Eng. David Muthoga signed the document at the Governor’s office recently.
The two will work in collaboration in raising funds which will help to ensure speedy completion of the projects.
The college students will be offered clinical attachment in the local public health facilities.
KMTC is also expected to enroll over 30 per cent of students from Nyeri County.
Governor Kahiga said: “I will be keen to support Kieni and Mathira Constituencies to ensure they establish similar medical college too.”
Nyeri Deputy Governor Caroline Karugu, Nyeri Health CEC Dr Rachel Kamau and Lands CEC Dr Kwai Wanjaria were also present.
