Pastoralist Community Initiative Development Assistance (PACIDA) will build a Sh60 million school that will cater for students from the nomadic region of Marsabit County.
According to PACIDA Chief Executive Officer Patrick Katelo, the school will cater for the children within the county.
He said already borehole drilling has started at the site where the school will be built. Katelo said when complete the school will have all the facilities needed to enable a child feel comfortable while in school from classes, dormitories, water, laboratories, teachers’ staff quarters among other facilities.
“This school when complete and operational will ensure that the child is retained in school as the parents get on with their activities of looking after their livestock”, he said.
Marsabit Catholic Church Bishop Peter Kihara said that as a church they have not been looking at the religion, color, tribe or race but what communities in the county need.
He said as a church they are committed to a working closely with the Government and other NGOs to ensure that they cater for the needs of the people.
“With the construction of the Nomadic Boarding School at Tigo area, education standards are expected to improve, thus improving the lifestyle of the residents and development of the county as a whole”, he added.
