Sossion accuses KESSHA, KEPSHA of endorsing teacher transfers

Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General Wilson Sossion has accused Kenya Secondary school Heads Associations (KESSHA) and the Kenya Primary School Head teachers Association (KEPSHA) of endorsing the transfer of teachers.

He pointed out that the decision was made by a few leaders of the head teachers’ associations without putting into consideration the welfare of the workers.

Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of KNUT at Agoro Sare Secondary School, Homa Bay County, Sossion asserts that the role of trade unions is to discuss labour matters on behalf of teachers. He accused KESSHA and KEPSHA of sabotaging unions’ efforts to fight for teachers rights.

As the leadership wrangles at KNUT is escalating, the Secretary General, however, said they were planning to sue the associations for forcing teachers to accept the transfers.

According to him, the TSC and the Ministry of Education are coercing the head teachers’ associations into accepting dangerous policies to the wellbeing of teachers.

Sossion warn KEPSHA and KESSHA to stop undertaking activities which are not within their mandate and to avoid confusion in advocating teachers’ rights.
