Meru residents ask State to establish poly in Tigania West

By John Majau

Leaders and residents in Tigania West of the Meru County have appealed to the Government to construct a polytechnic in Kibuline location to train the many jobless youth in the area.
They said that the numerous youth who are currently tarmacking for jobs but lack expertise in any particular field will be absorbed in the polytechnic for training on skilled labour.
Speaking at Kibuline chief’s camp, the leaders proposed that a section of land be hived off from Kibuline primary school which has a big chunk of land in order to pave way for the construction of the polytechnic.
Led by area MP John Mutunga and a resident Dr Paul Mugambi, they decried the lack of skilled personnel in the locality.
They expressed their optimism that the institution will resolve the high shortage of experts once it is established in the area.
Mutunga challenged parents and other education stakeholders to encourage their children to join Technical Training Institutes in order to enable them benefit from the national government funding.
He regretted that Karumo Technical Training Institute which is situated within the constituency has very few students despite being funded by the national government.
The MP said that he will financially assist the institution and students through the CDF kitty.
