Police in Matungulu, Machakos County are investigating the death of a Form Three student who allegedly killed herself.

The 16-year-old Form 3 student of Tala Girls’ High School in Machakos County committed suicide in one of the school’s dormitory bathrooms.

According to police reports the deceased had been accused of stealing Sh2,500 pocket money and a packet of pencils from a fellow student.

Matungulu Deputy Sub-county Police Commander Evans Mose said that the student admitted to the theft and was told by the Deputy Principal to avail the money during break time and hand it over to the school’s administration.

“The student took long to come back thus making the Deputy principal suspicious. The teacher thereafter proceeded to the dormitory in the company of three other students where they discovered a suicide note and the student’s lifeless body hanging from the roof of the dormitory bathroom,” the police said in a report at Tala Police Station.

The police boss said that the suicide note was an apology to her mother and her brother for taking her life saying that she had being accused of stealing but she had not stolen anything.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kangundo Level Four Hospital Mortuary in Machakos pending a postmortem.
