Wilson Koros, the new Bungoma County Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Director has assured education stakeholders in the country of unwavering collaboration and prioritization of teachers’ welfare.

Mr. Koros was one of the County Directors who were moved in the recent reshuffling exercise by the TSC. He comes from Nyamira County and replaces Mr. Japheth Kariuki who was moved to Nakuru County.

Speaking at Greenville Hotel in Bungoma town on Thursday, 1st September during the handing over ceremony, Mr. Kariuki welcomed Mr. Koros to Bungoma and thanked local teachers and area education stakeholders for the support they had accorded him.

“I have enjoyed being in Bungoma. I have related well with all education stakeholders to ensure maximum support towards education,” Kariuki said.

Mr. Koros on his part lauded the Commission for the opportunity and affirmed his readiness to participate with other educationists and unionists in ensuring that teachers are accorded a conducive environment.

Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Bungoma County Chairman Edward Bikala welcomed the new Director assuring him of teachers’ support.

His sentiments were echoed by Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Bungoma County Chairman David Barasa who was present during the handing over.

Mr. Barasa further called on the incoming government to embrace online learning by supporting institutions to get computers. He revealed that some of schools had been lucky to receive laptops from the outgoing government but some were stolen.

“The incoming government should come up with new ways of supporting e-learning in Kenya to take advantage of technology and its advancement,” Mr. Barasa said.

Barasa also noted that the new technology had also improved security in schools as Principals could monitor all school activities through CCTV.
