Kapkatet community praised for swift response to Tengecha Boys dormitory fire

The Kapkatet community has been praised for its swift and selfless response following a fire that broke out at Tengecha Boys Senior School on Sunday evening.

Residents rushed to the school shortly after the fire was reported and joined students and members of staff in efforts to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the institution.

The community members worked alongside the school fraternity to evacuate students’ belongings from the affected dormitory, with several boxes, mattresses and other personal effects salvaged from the first and second floors.

Their quick intervention helped minimise losses and demonstrated the strong bond between the school and the surrounding community during an emergency.

Residents join emergency response

The response was particularly crucial as residents, students and staff worked together amid the unfolding incident to remove property from the dormitory and support efforts to bring the fire under control.

The school fraternity and residents have expressed gratitude to the community members for their courage, unity and willingness to respond promptly when their assistance was needed.

No casualties were reported in the incident, with all students confirmed to be safe after the fire was contained.
