- TSC has recognised Kamariny Primary Headteacher Viola Barsulai for her exceptional commitment to learner protection and safety.
- The Commission has named her the Position 1 Recipient of the Child Protection Champion Award at the Sub-County level.
- She has been slated to receive the award during the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebrations for her ‘Don’t Touch That’ initiative against sexual abuse.
Award-winning teacher and Headteacher of Kamariny Primary and Junior School, Viola Barsulai, has been named the Position 1 Recipient of the Child Protection Champion Award at the Sub-County level.
In a commendation letter dated September 25, 2026, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recognized Viola Jemutai Barsulai of Kamariny Primary School for her exceptional commitment to the protection, safety and wellbeing of learners.
The letter, signed by Acting Commission Secretary Eveleen Mitei, stated that the teacher had demonstrated exemplary vigilance and commitment to safeguarding learners and promoting safe, respectful and supportive learning environments.
“Your efforts have strengthened awareness of learner protection and wellbeing within the education community,” the Commission said.

In recognition of her contribution, TSC announced that she will be awarded as the Position 1 Recipient of the Child Protection Champion Award during the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebrations.
“This recognition celebrates your commitment, professionalism, and the positive impact of your service to learners, fellow educators, educational institutions, and the wider community,” the letter read.
Speaking to Education News on the development, Barsulai said the recognition cements her efforts in ensuring safety and protection of learners against destructive vices.

“Today I celebrate a recognition that means a lot to me. I sincerely thank the employer, TSC, for seeing my work, believing in me and allowing me to grow, serve and become,” said Barsulai.
Barsulai came to the limelight following her initiative dubbed ‘Don’t Touch’ which enlightened learners against sexual abuse and created self-awareness.
