Grief has engulfed the nursing fraternity following the death of Ian Kibet Kangogo, a recent nursing graduate of the University of Kabianga, who died while undertaking his internship.
Kangogo, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the university’s Kapkatet Campus, was undertaking his internship at Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Hospital when he died on September 22, 2026.
News of his death has sparked an outpouring of messages from colleagues, former classmates and members of the nursing fraternity, who described him as a dedicated and hardworking young professional.
The Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM) joined colleagues and friends in mourning Kangogo, describing his death as a loss to the nursing profession.

In messages shared following his death, colleagues remembered the young nurse for his commitment to patient care and his passion for serving others.
His death comes at the early stage of his professional career, shortly after completing his university studies and beginning his internship, a period considered an important transition for newly qualified health professionals.
