- Lower Eastern bishops have begun consultations aimed at helping resolve Machakos County’s prolonged budget stalemate.
- The clergy say their intervention seeks to ensure residents benefit fairly from available county resources.
- Governor Wavinya Ndeti welcomed the church’s involvement, describing faith leaders as important partners in promoting unity.
Bishops from various denominations in the Lower Eastern region on Thursday paid a courtesy call to Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti at her office, where they expressed concern over the budget stalemate that has crippled operations in the county.
Bishop Titus Masika of Christian Impact Mission, who spoke briefly to the press on behalf of the clergy, said they had prayed over the issues affecting the county.
“We felt the issues involve other players. We will continue consulting so that the stalemate in the county can be resolved. The consultation continues,” Masika said.
“Our concern is how Machakos can become a great county and how the citizens can benefit fairly from resources,” he added.
Church seeks solution to stalemate
Governor Wavinya welcomed the intervention by the church, saying faith leaders play a critical role in fostering peace and unity.

“The Church remains a pillar of hope, guidance and unity in our society, and my administration will continue to work closely with faith leaders, valuing their prayers, wisdom and counsel as we build a better Machakos for the benefit of our people,” Wavinya said.
