- Tharuni School has received a major facelift through the completed renovation of eight classrooms and its administration block under MP Kiragu Chege’s initiative.
- The school has received modern JSS classrooms, 100 lockers and 100 desks, alongside continued support from the Tap to Eat feeding programme.
- Plans have been announced to upgrade the access road to the school, with further development projects being considered.
Tharuni Comprehensive School in Limuru Central Ward, Kiambu County, has undergone the renovation of eight classrooms and its administration block, giving learners and teachers improved facilities as the institution continues to benefit from new classrooms, furniture and feeding support, with more projects still planned.
The renovation, led by Limuru MP Kiragu Chege, included plastering and painting of walls, tiling of classroom floors and corridors, and repairs to the school roof.
Speaking during the commissioning of the renovated facilities, Chege said the work formed part of his commitment to improving the school and providing a safe, conducive environment for teaching and learning.
“We said we shall transform Tharuni School, and we are keeping our word. Our focus is to ensure our children and teachers have a favourable, safe and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” said Chege.

The latest renovations follow the construction of modern Junior Secondary School (JSS) classrooms at the school in February this year. In May 2026, the school received 100 lockers and 100 desks to help address a shortage of furniture and improve the learning environment.
Chege said additional projects had been planned for the school, with future work set to address the needs of both learners and teachers.
The institution has also continued to benefit from the Tap to Eat feeding programme, popularly known as DishinaKiragu, which has drawn support from the wider school community. The programme aims to improve learners’ nutrition, encourage regular school attendance and create a better environment for learning.

Meanwhile, access to the school is expected to improve through planned upgrades to the road from Mutarakwa towards Mithiga, extending to Tharuni School. The works will include tarmacking and cabro paving in some sections, improvements expected to reduce dust and mud in the school compound while easing access for learners, teachers and visitors. Chege said the road project would complement the ongoing school improvements.
With the renovated classrooms now complete and further projects in the pipeline, Tharuni School is expected to continue benefiting from investments aimed at improving teaching, learning and learner welfare.
