Kenyan trio Chepsaita, Kesogon and Mwitoti reach FEASSA volleyball semifinals

The FEASSA Games 2026 volleyball competition has entered the semifinal stage, with Bukedea, Chepsaita, Namugongo and Nyanza securing places in the boys’ last four after a thrilling day of action.

Bukedea booked their semifinal place with a 3-1 victory over Nyanza, winning 25-13, 25-19, 21-25 and 27-25. Despite dropping the third set, Bukedea held their nerve in a closely contested fourth set to seal the win.

Chepsaita produced another commanding performance, sweeping Kaliua 3-0 in a match decided by narrow margins. They won 25-21, 27-25 and 25-23 to advance to the semifinals.

Namugongo also secured a place in the last four after defeating Jerome 3-1. Jerome took the opening set 25-23, but Namugongo responded strongly to win the next three sets 25-15, 25-13 and 25-14.

Chesamisi, meanwhile, edged Lumala 3-2 in one of the day’s most competitive matches. After exchanging sets, Chesamisi won the decisive fifth set 15-7, although their victory was not enough to secure a semifinal place.

In the boys’ semifinals, Bukedea will face Chepsaita, while Namugongo will take on Nyanza.

The girls’ competition has also produced four semifinalists, with Kesogon, Bukedea, Mwitoti and GS Indangaburezi advancing.

Kesogon delivered a dominant performance against GS Indangaburezi, winning 3-0 with scores of 25-8, 25-15 and 25-11.

Mwitoti were equally impressive, sweeping Katikamu 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-13), while Bukedea defeated Mwanahunzi 3-0 after winning 25-20, 25-20 and 25-21.

Seroma ended the day with a 3-1 victory over Lumala, winning 25-22, 19-25, 25-16 and 25-22.

The girls’ semifinal line-up will see Kesogon face Bukedea, while Mwitoti take on GS Indangaburezi, setting the stage for highly anticipated clashes as teams battle for places in the finals.
