According to SHA, registered members use their mobile numbers to receive a range of important communications, including verification codes, account alerts, contribution information and notifications concerning healthcare benefits.
A phone number that is no longer in use, incorrectly registered or inaccessible to the member could therefore make it difficult to receive time-sensitive messages. SHA’s online systems require members to provide a phone number registered to their identification details, while its Lipa SHA Pole Pole portal sends verification codes to the number linked to a member’s account.
How Kenyans can update their phone numbers
SHA has provided members with a way of checking and updating their registered contact information.
Kenyans can dial *147# from their mobile phones and follow the prompts provided. SHA previously explained that members who acquire new mobile numbers can use the USSD service to access the “Update Details” option and change their information.
Members can also access the official SHA website to access their accounts and services.
The authority is particularly encouraging Kenyans who have recently changed their mobile numbers to take action rather than continuing to rely on details associated with an old line.
Those who are uncertain about the phone number registered under their SHA account have also been advised to verify their information.
