The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has retained its position as the Best National Polytechnic at the Kenya Music Festival, with the institution saying the 2026 victory marks its third consecutive triumph.
TENP received the overall trophy during the 98th Kenya Music Festival State Concert held at Bungoma State Lodge on August 14, following the conclusion of the national competitions hosted at Kibabii University.
The institution’s Chief Principal, Dr Charles Koech, OGW, received the trophy alongside Music Team Vice Chair Oliver Wanjala.
According to TENP, the trophy was presented by First Lady Rachel Ruto during the State Concert.
The institution described the achievement as another demonstration of its strength in music, creativity and talent development.
“On 14th August 2026, The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has once again stamped its authority on the national stage by defending the Kenya Music Festival (KMF) Trophy for the third consecutive time,” the institution said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
The latest victory means TENP has, according to the institution, retained the overall national polytechnic award for three consecutive editions of the festival.
It attributed the achievement to commitment, discipline and teamwork within the institution, saying its continued success reflected its values of excellence, teamwork, integrity and professionalism.
TENP also linked its participation in music and creative activities to the promotion of national cohesion and the development of talent among trainees.
Six additional trophies
The overall title capped a strong showing by TENP’s Music Team during the national competitions.
According to the institution, its performers had already secured six additional trophies across various disciplines before being declared the Best National Polytechnic.
The results demonstrate the role of TVET institutions in providing trainees with opportunities to develop talents beyond technical and vocational skills.
Participation in music and other co-curricular activities provides trainees with opportunities to develop creativity, confidence, teamwork and communication skills while showcasing their talents at institutional and national levels.
The national competitions were held at Kibabii University in Bungoma County before culminating in the State Concert at Bungoma State Lodge on August 14.
The official winners’ list confirms Eldoret National Polytechnic as the Best National Polytechnic at the 2026 festival.
Other overall winners included Bunyore Girls as Best Senior School, Murang’a School for the Hearing Impaired as Best Special Needs Education Senior School and Kitui Teachers Training Centre as Best Teachers’ Training Centre.
Kenyatta University emerged Best University, while Mtongwe VTC was named Best Vocational Training Centre. Western Region took the Best Region honours, with Nairobi emerging Best County.

For TENP, retaining the national polytechnic crown for a third consecutive time adds to an increasingly strong record at the Kenya Music Festival and reinforces the institution’s emphasis on nurturing talent alongside technical training.
