Bomet University has announced the death of one of its drivers, Charles Langat, following a tragic road accident in Narok County.
Langat died after the university vehicle he was driving was involved in an accident at Katakala on Monday evening, August 10, 2026. He was transporting four university staff members to Nairobi on official duty when the accident occurred.
According to a statement issued by Bomet University, Langat sustained serious injuries in the crash and later succumbed. The four staff members who were travelling in the vehicle survived the accident with minor injuries. They were taken to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged and are recovering at home.
The death of Langat has left the Bomet University community mourning the loss of a staff member described as dedicated to his work and committed to serving the institution.
The university conveyed its condolences to Langat’s family, relatives, friends and colleagues, saying his service would be remembered with gratitude.
“Our thoughts are with his family, relatives, friends, and colleagues as they grieve this tragic loss,” the university said.

The institution also wished the surviving staff members a continued and full recovery as they come to terms with the accident.
The circumstances surrounding the accident were not immediately detailed by the university.
Langat’s death adds to growing concerns over road safety, particularly for motorists travelling along busy highways connecting different parts of the country.
The university community is expected to stand with Langat’s family during the mourning period as arrangements to lay him to rest are made.
