- MP Stephen Mule has launched a 2026–2036 blueprint prioritising education, projecting Sh6.8B funding needs to bridge gaps in the sector.

- Mule credited earlier planning for CBC readiness and noted 630 students joined universities last year, while unveiling a goal to transform Matungulu Girls into a Centre of Excellence.
Matungulu Member of Parliament (MP) Stephen Mule has unveiled an ambitious Constituency Strategic Plan covering 2026 to 2036, pledging to prioritise education and urging the National Government to fully fund development priorities outlined for the area.
Speaking at Sengani Senior School during the launch, Mule emphasised that long‑term planning is the foundation of national growth, declaring that no country can prosper without investing in the future education of its young generation.
Under the new 10‑year blueprint, the constituency will embark on purchasing land and constructing 24 day secondary schools across Matungulu. Mule credited the previous 2015‑2025 strategic plan for positioning the constituency ahead of others in Machakos County in terms of education infrastructure.
“As we speak, we have more day secondary schools than any other sub‑county in Machakos. That is because we had a vision and executed our strategic plan 2015‑2025,” he said, noting that Matungulu was better prepared for the Competency‑Based Curriculum transition compared to other regions.
He explained that when CBC was introduced, many constituencies struggled to build classrooms, but Matungulu avoided the crisis by ensuring that for every one or two primary schools, a day secondary school was already in place. Mule said the results are evident, pointing out that last year alone, 630 students from local day secondary schools secured admission to universities.

The MP also announced that a three‑floor laboratory block will be constructed at Matungulu Girls Senior School at Sh20 million from the Constituency Development Fund. He unveiled a broader goal to transform Matungulu Girls into a Centre of Excellence, requiring Sh8.7 billion to be raised over the next five years through government funding and donor support.
“Each constituency must evaluate what they need and let it be funded by the National Government because the money is available but often misappropriated,” Mule said, stressing that accountability and proper allocation are critical to achieving education goals.
In total, Mule projected that Matungulu will require Sh6.8 billion over the next decade to fully address gaps in the education sector.
The launch ceremony was attended by school heads, parents, and local leaders, who lauded the plan as a roadmap for transforming education in Matungulu and securing a brighter future for learners.
