- Kisii School alumni plan an ICT hub to strengthen learners’ computer and digital skills.
- Old Boys also support needy students with school fees and mentorship programmes.

Kisii School Old Boys are set to construct an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hub to equip learners with computer and digital skills.
Dr Boniface Onsongo, an alumnus and chairman of the Kisii School Alumni Grand Reunion, said the initiative is intended to ensure students leaving the institution have computer skills that will help them in their studies and future careers.
Onsongo said the Old Boys also want to strengthen their alumni network to mobilise support for the school while providing mentorship to current students.
“We want to motivate students, mentor them and nourish them spiritually,” Onsongo said during the launch of the three-day alumni reunion at the school.
Edward Mairura, the Old Boys Secretary and a teacher at the school, said the alumni are supporting efforts to improve infrastructure and create a better learning environment.
He said the Old Boys also raise funds to pay school fees for students from disadvantaged families, enabling them to continue with their education and realise their potential.
“We will be having re-union periodically and urge more alumni support the school and learners from impoverished families,” Mairura said.
He said the Old Boys currently support three students every year, an initiative that has helped beneficiaries continue with and complete their education.
Dr Omanyo lauded the alumni for supporting the school, saying learners require continuous motivation to develop a positive mindset towards their education and improve their performance.
“Students need to be formed wholistically to shape them and exploit their potentials,” Omanyo said after conducting a church service during the reunion.
Students urged to embrace discipline
Coach Kelvin Nyamache expressed concern over increasing cases of unrest in schools and urged students to embrace discipline as an essential ingredient for academic success.
He said discipline remains fundamental to learners achieving their educational goals and developing into responsible members of society.
“We are here to inculcate values to the students to foster their discipline as they pursue their education,” Nyamache said.
The three-day reunion brings together Kisii School Old Boys and the school community, with activities focusing on mentorship, spiritual development, learner support and mobilisation of resources for the institution.

The alumni hope that continued engagement with the school will strengthen support for learners while contributing to infrastructure development and preparing students with skills needed beyond the classroom.
