GG Rumuruti Boys Secondary School produced a dominant performance to dethrone four-time champions Olmoran Secondary School and win the Laikipia County boys’ volleyball title during the county secondary school games held at the Nanyuki Garrison Grounds.
GG Rumuruti secured the championship with a convincing 3-0 victory over Olmoran in the final, ending the champions’ impressive reign.
The newly crowned champions had earlier defeated Nanyuki Boys 3-0 in the semi-finals and completed the tournament without dropping a single set, underlining their dominance throughout the competition.
The victory earns GG Rumuruti the honour of representing Laikipia County at the forthcoming Rift Valley Secondary School Games scheduled for next week in Narok County.
Following the triumph, GG Rumuruti Chief Principal Sammy Githungu congratulated the players and the coaching staff for their outstanding performance.
He attributed the success to discipline, teamwork and determination, and urged the team to remain focused as they prepare for the regional championships.
Double success for GG Rumuruti
GG Rumuruti also excelled in football, defeating Nanyuki Boys 3-1 in the boys’ final to complete a memorable double victory for the school.
In the girls’ volleyball final, Ndururi Girls defeated defending champions Olmoran Girls 3-1 to lift the county title.

Meanwhile, Ndururumo Girls were crowned county football champions after defeating Olmoran 5-3 in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw in regulation time.
