Kaboson Girls Secondary School has won its appeal against the decision that cleared reigning champions Cheptalal Girls Secondary School to represent Bomet County at the upcoming Rift Valley Secondary Schools Games, setting the stage for a highly anticipated rematch between the two volleyball giants.

Sports authorities ruled in favour of Kaboson after reviewing the circumstances surrounding the controversial county girls’ volleyball final that was abandoned before completion due to crowd disturbances.

The appeal committee found merit in Kaboson’s argument that the final match had not been concluded and that declaring Cheptalal the winners without completing play was unfair.

As a result, officials ordered a replay of the fixture to determine the county champion and the team that will represent Bomet at the regional games.

The rematch has been scheduled for Friday at Kaplong Boys High School starting at 10:00 a.m.

The dispute arose after the county final was halted during the fourth set following crowd unrest.

At the time, defending champions Cheptalal Girls were leading the match by two sets to one and were also ahead in the fourth set.

Tournament officials later awarded the victory to Cheptalal, a decision that sparked protests from Kaboson.

Unsatisfied with the verdict, Kaboson lodged an appeal, insisting that the match should be completed or replayed to ensure a fair outcome.

Following the successful appeal, both schools now have another opportunity to settle the contest on the court.

The replay is expected to attract huge interest from volleyball fans across Bomet County, given the intense rivalry between the two schools and the high stakes involved.

The winner will secure the county title and earn the right to represent Bomet county at the Rift Valley Secondary Schools Games.

With both teams boasting talented squads and strong volleyball traditions, Saturday’s encounter is expected to be a fiercely contested battle as they seek to book a place at the regional championships.
