NIBS Technical Collegeis mourning the death of two of its students following a road accident along Thika Road.

The collegd said that the three Term Two Computer Science students were travelling in a private car when the accident occurred.
NIBS Technical College has been thrown into mourning after two of its students died and a third is in critical condition following a road accident along Thika Road near the Githurai exit on the evening of June 29, 2026, the institution said.
The college’s Office of the Chief Registrar said in a memo dated June 30, 2026 that the three Term Two Computer Science students were travelling in a private car when the accident occurred.
Ian Kinyori Wangeci died at the scene, while Alex Munyao Kilonzo succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at St. John’s Hospital, the college stated.

A third student, Christian Kariuki, remains in critical condition and is currently receiving intensive medical care.
The College has extended condolences to their families, friends and classmates, and asked the college community to keep Kariuki and his family in their thoughts as he continues treatment.
The college also expressed appreciation to medical personnel and to the Githurai Police Station for their cooperation following the accident.
In response to the incident, the college said its Counselling Office will conduct a counselling and psychosocial support session for the affected class. Students requiring emotional support have been encouraged to attend the session or seek services from the Counselling Office.
Further communication on memorial arrangements will be shared in due course, the college said.
