The delegates, led by their chief whip in charge of logistics and strategy, Makueni Executive Secretary Benson Ndambuki, saw their wishes fulfilled after James Muuo Ndiku was announced unopposed as the national treasurer.
The elections held in Kisumu at Tom Mboya Labour College also saw Collins Oyuu reelected as the Secretary General, making Team Oyuu triumph.
The reelection of our SG, Oyuu, and the son of our soil, Ndiku (from Kambaland-Makueni), has made us happy. Personally, I have slept a happy man. We cannot forget Taita Taveta Executive Secretary Lennox Mshilla, who has now occupied the only contested position of Assistant Secretary General,” Chief Whip Ndambuki said.

He added that Team Oyuu, which was part of the KNUT national campaign platform, was voted back into office.
The unopposed Team Oyuu consisted of Deputy Secretary General Hesbon Otieno, National Chairman Patrick Karinga, First Vice National Chairman Aggrey Namisi, National Treasurer James Ndiku, Deputy National Treasurer Kennedy Nyamwanda, and Assistant National Treasurer Kullow Mohammed.
Additionally, Mercy Kyambati and Mercy Ndungu also retained their seats as National Women Representatives. However, the Assistant Secretary General position was contested, with Lennox Mshilla emerging as the winner.

“We have witnessed love, joy and commitment as Kenyan delegates decided. It is a mark of a fresh mandate to serve Kenyan teachers,” Ndambuki said.

Ndambuki, speaking further on behalf of the National Treasurer, thanked all the delegates and teachers of Kenya for the trust they place in their union leaders.
It should be remembered that Makueni County, where the National Treasurer comes from, made history since the formation of KNUT by reinstating all their officials back to office during branch elections.
