Nakuru High crowned champions at the 62nd National KSEF competition in Garissa

Nakuru High School has emerged as the overall winner of the 62nd National Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF) competitions held at Garissa High School, following an exceptional performance that underscored the institution’s strength in research and innovation.

The school’s Waste Management project clinched Position One overall and was also named the Most Innovative Project at the national level.

The project, presented by Wayne Kihara and Basil Watwati, stood out for its creativity, feasibility, and environmental impact.

Judges praised the innovation for offering practical solutions to Kenya’s growing waste management challenges.

Nakuru High also impressed in the Space Science category, where Darell Brycen and Ramsey Mwangi secured Position Three nationally. Their project demonstrated advanced research skills and visionary thinking in the field of space science and technology.

Speaking after the announcement of the results, the School Chief Principal, John ole Kuyo, congratulated the students and teaching staff for their dedication and teamwork.

“This achievement reflects our commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Our students have proven that with discipline, mentorship and determination, they can compete with the best in the country,” said John ole Kuyo.

He emphasized that the school will continue strengthening its STEM programmes to nurture creativity and scientific inquiry among learners.

“We are proud of Wayne, Basil, Darell, and Ramsey for their outstanding performance. They have not only brought honour to Nakuru High but have also set a benchmark for others to follow,” he added.

The principal also commended the Patron, Anthony Bwogo, for his unwavering guidance and mentorship throughout the competition period.

The victory further cements Nakuru High School’s position as a national leader in science and engineering innovation.
