Makueni DG encourages youth to embrace sport, says it pays

Makueni County Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili has encouraged youth to embrace sports and continue exploring their talents, saying that sector is paying well and it’s a way of employment.

Mulili speaking during the launch of Mutula Kilonzo Jnr Supa Cup County finals at Makueni Boys, said due to talent, many players have been scouted and some are playing for big teams internationally.

She further reiterated County’s commitment in elevating youth through sports, noting that they are focused on strengthening and growing sports in the county.

“Here we have players aged 18–23 showcasing their ability to earn opportunities for scouting, recruitment, and commercializing talents. The players are purely from Makueni competing among five disciplines,” Mulili said

She added that when youth are engaged drug abuse and other vices in the society will be minimal thence having a healthy society.

Makueni County Executive Committee member (CECM) for gender, youth, sports and social services Eng. Sebastian Kyoni  noted that this being the county finals stage taking place for two days(1-2).

TheLigi Mashinani started way back in October then ward finals in January and finally county level with all the nine sub county available.

He added that the winners will proceed to national level in Nyahururu assuring that the county will secure the best position.
