The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced a reshuffle affecting several principals of National Polytechnics, marking the latest in a series of leadership changes within technical institutions.

Among those moved is John Akola, who has been serving as the Principal of Kisii National Polytechnic.

Akola has now been transferred to Ol’Lessos National Polytechnic in the North Rift, where he takes over from Wesley Yegon.

Akola’s departure from Kisii National Polytechnic paves the way for Geoffrey Andama, formerly Principal of Coast National Polytechnic, to assume leadership at Kisii.

In turn, Coast National Polytechnic will now be headed by Michael Maina, who has been the Principal of Mukiria Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Meru County.

Cecilia Mwongera, who was a Deputy Principal at Mukiria TTI, has taken over as the new boss.

The reshuffle underscores the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to reorganise leadership within technical and vocational institutions.

It comes barely two weeks after several principals of technical institutes were transferred in a similar exercise aimed at strengthening management and aligning institutions with national education priorities.
