In his words, “If Kenya is to realise her full potential, if we are to build a nation that is truly great, then we must commit ourselves, deliberately and without hesitation, to the quiet but demanding values that have built enduring institutions such as the Alliance.”

This initiative is part of his broader focus on education and infrastructure development in Western Kenya, a region that has historically lagged behind.

During the busy Western region tour, Ruto also launched several projects, including the Shamakhokho Kaimosi-Mpaka-Mululu-Museno-Malinya Road, which will connect Kakamega and Vihiga counties, and promised to complete Kakamega Teaching and Referral Hospital and Butere Level Four Hospital.

“We want to make sure that Western Kenya is as good as any other part of the Republic of Kenya,” Ruto said, stressing the need for affirmative action to bring the region on par with others. With these promises, the people of Mt Elgon are hopeful for a brighter future.
