Leaders in Kericho County have commended the Kenya Kwanza government for what they termed as significant progress in improving the education sector.

Speaking during a celebration to mark good 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) performance at Tengecha Girls High School, Senator Aaron Cheruiyot said the government has demonstrated its commitment to education through increased funding and improved infrastructure.

“The government has set aside more than Ksh7 billion for the education sector, which clearly shows the seriousness with which they are handling matters of education,” said Cheruiyot.

The senator noted that apart from the budgetary allocation, the government has also invested heavily in the construction and improvement of school infrastructure across the country.

He further described the employment of more than 100,000 teachers over the past three years as a historic achievement.

“The employment of over 100,000 teachers in the last three years is historic. No previous government has ever managed to employ such a large number of teachers within such a short period,” he said.

Cheruiyot further criticized opposition leaders who claim that the education sector has deteriorated under the current administration.

“It is unfortunate that some opposition leaders continue to claim that education has declined under this government. Such claims are insincere and meant to mislead the public,” he added.

His sentiments were echoed by the  Kericho County Woman Representative Beatrice Kemei, who said education continues to receive the lion’s share of the national budget.

“Education remains a top priority for this government and that is why it continues to receive the largest share of the national budget,” she said.

At the same time, Kibet Komingoi, the MP for Bureti Constituency, said the Kenya Kwanza administration has set a new benchmark in supporting education.

“The record of Kenya Kwanza in the education sector is unmatched. This government has clearly shown that education is a key priority,” said Komingoi.

Komingoi also warned schools against charging extra levies, saying the Ministry of Education has already given directives on the same.
