Kitale School from Trans-Nzoia County has been ranked number one in the 2026 MONAKIHINYE (Molo Academy, Nairobi Primary, Kitale School, Hill School and Nyeri Complex) national schools sports championship.
This is after the school displayed athletic prowess and never dying competitive spirit, edging out key competitors. Hill School, the host school came second and closely followed by Moi Nyeri Complex School.
Following excellent performance, the three schools were crowned the undisputed giants of the 2026 MONAKIHINYE Schools Annual Sports Championship.
Kitale School Principal, George Polo hailed his team for exemplary results attributing it to dedication and teamwork from both teacher and players.
“Teamwork and dedication among teachers and our players have given us this victory. We owe it to our entire school. Glory to God,” said Polo.
As the Term One games concluded this weekend, Kitale School clinched the overall championship title, amassing a staggering 319 points to stay ahead of their rivals, Eldoret-based Hill School who emerged second with 271 points, while Moi Nyeri Complex narrowly beat out Nairobi Primary for the third spot, finishing with 101 and 100 points, respectively.

The competition effectively turned into a high-stakes duel between Kitale and Hill School, with each institution carving out its own territory of dominance.
Hill School’s Junior Secondary (JS) supremacy was proved untouchable in the Junior Secondary category, sweeping the team titles with both their boys’ team topping the chart with 111 points, while the girls’ team was even more impressive, securing 114 points as the best girls’ team.

However, Kitale School demonstrated superior depth in the Primary category, taking home both the Boys’ and Girls’ PRY team trophies with a balanced 56 points each.
The championship also shone a spotlight on rising stars who delivered record-breaking performances for their respective schools.
Emmanuel Rotich (Hill School) and Michelle Emuron (Hill School) were the standouts in the Junior Secondary division, earning the Best Male and Best Female Athlete honors.
In the Primary division, Gat Kuoth Tut (Kitale School) and Mary Agger (Kitale School) dominated their events to claim the individual titles, cementing Kitale’s overall victory.
The chairman of the competition Vincent Mwangi, the Principal Moi Nyeri Complex School hailed participating teams for exhibiting health competition.
Mwangi said the competition was used to put in practical CBE which put emphasis on nurturing talents among learners.
“This competition is meant to give teachers and learners the opportunity to put their talents on practical test. It also gives us an opportunity to showcase talents away from class and this is the true spirit of CBE,” said Mwangi.
