Bungoma National Polytechnic has organised a Condom sensitisation forum for its trainees

The Bungoma National Polytechnic has organised a sensitisation forum on the use of condoms as part of efforts to promote responsible behaviour and safeguard the health of its trainees.

According to an internal memo and signed by Dean of Students Hannington Situma, all trainees were invited to attend a sensitisation meeting today at 2 p.m. in the institution’s Lecture Hall.

The memo indicated that the session would focus on educating students about the proper use of condoms and the importance of protecting themselves against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, as well as preventing unplanned pregnancies.

The forum will be addressed by a guest speaker referred to as the “King of Condoms” from Nairobi, a figure known for championing sexual health awareness campaigns among young people.

“Condoms will be distributed free of charge,” the notice stated, underscoring the institution’s commitment to ensuring that trainees not only receive information but also have access to preventive tools.

The communication, which was approved for circulation by the office of the Deputy Principal (Academics), reflects the polytechnic’s broader approach to student welfare beyond academic instruction.

By hosting such forums, the institution aims to empower learners with knowledge and practical skills to make informed decisions regarding their reproductive health.

Institutions of higher learning across Kenya have increasingly embraced health sensitisation programmes as part of their student support services, recognizing the vulnerability of young adults to health risks.

Students were urged to keep time and actively participate in the session, which forms part of ongoing initiatives to foster a healthy, informed and responsible student community at the Bungoma-based institution.
