Baricho Boy’s Senior School in Kirinyaga County has officially invited secondary schools to participate in its 9th Annual Mathematics Contest scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, starting at 7:00 a.m.
The much-anticipated academic event aims to promote excellence in mathematics and nurture young talent across different school categories.
According to the invitation letter released by the school’s Mathematics Department, the contest seeks to stimulate students’ interest in mathematics, identify and encourage talent; provide a platform for academic benchmarking and career growth.
The competition will cover key strands in the mathematics syllabus, including Numbers and Algebra for Grade 10, Trigonometry II for Form 3 and Trigonometry III for Form 4.
All participating students will receive certificates while top performers will be awarded based on their school categories—National, Extra-County, County and Sub-County schools. In each category, the top three students will be recognized.

The participating schools have been asked to register their teams of ten students per class category at a fee of Ksh3, 000 per team. Multiple teams are also permitted.
The school has noted that the contest will be conducted, marked, and winners announced on the same day.
In a significant highlight of this year’s event, the best Form Four boy and girl will each be awarded a full scholarship by Strathmore University, one of the competition’s proud sponsors alongside Zetech University.
Organizers have encouraged participating schools to confirm attendance in advance and ensure students carry packed lunch for the day.
The school expressed optimism that the event will continue to strengthen academic collaboration and inspire mathematical excellence among learners.
The annual contest has grown steadily over the years, attracting increased participation and recognition within the region’s academic calendar.
