Kipkelion East Member of Parliament Joseph Cherorot has reaffirmed his commitment to expanding bursary allocations in the constituency, saying the initiative is designed to ensure that no child is denied access to education due to financial hardship.
Speaking at Kiletien Secondary School during the issuance of bursary cheques, Cherorot described education as the cornerstone of national development. He emphasized that investing in learners today would secure the future of the constituency and the country at large.
“It is through education that this country will attain meaningful development,” he said. “That is why we are enhancing bursary allocations so that every child, regardless of their background, can stay in school.”

The legislator noted that his decision aligns with President William Ruto’s agenda of making education accessible to all. He pointed out that the President has consistently directed that no child should be sent home for lack of school fees or uniform, a directive he pledged to fully support at the grassroots level.
Cherorot stressed that no learner in Kipkelion East should be turned away from school because of financial constraints. He assured parents and students that his office would continue prioritizing education funding, adding that his passion for education stems from personal experience.
“I faced many challenges during my school days. I understand what it means to struggle to stay in class,” he said. “No child should go through the hardships I experienced. That is why I am determined to invest more in education.”
He described education as the “great equalizer,” expressing optimism that with proper support, learners in the constituency would excel academically and transform the community in the future. “If we give our children the right support today, they will transform this constituency tomorrow,” Cherorot added.

The MP also appealed to parents, teachers, and stakeholders to work together in strengthening education standards in the area. He emphasized that uplifting schools requires collective effort, not just individual leadership. “My record on education speaks for itself. But this is not a one-man effort. We must join hands to uplift our schools and secure a brighter future for our children,” he said.
Parents and students present at the event welcomed the increased bursary allocation, terming it a timely intervention amid rising education costs. Many expressed gratitude, noting that the support would ease the burden of school fees and keep learners in class.
