The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Meru County branch has strongly condemned the alleged physical assault of the Deputy Principal of Nkubu Boys Secondary School by a parent, terming the incident shameful and unacceptable.
In a press statement released to media houses, KUPPET Meru chairman Morris Muthoni Njira described schools as sanctuaries of learning, discipline and moral integrity, not arenas for violence and intimidation.
The union warned that such acts of lawlessness undermine the authority of educators and threaten the safety of both teachers and students.
It further alleged that the individual involved appeared emboldened by perceived political connections; an action the union said erodes respect for institutions that shape the future of learners and the nation.
KUPPET affirmed its unwavering solidarity with the Deputy Principal and the entire school fraternity, insisting that violence against teachers amounts to violence against education itself and must be met with the full force of the law.

The union has now given relevant authorities a 72-hour ultimatum to investigate the matter and arrest the perpetrator.
Failure to which, KUPPET warned it will mobilize teachers for a demonstration “never seen before” and advise members not to resume school after the midterm break until justice is served.
“An injury to one teacher is an injury to all,” the statement said.
The copies of the statement were sent to the OCS Nkubu Police Station, the County Police Commander, the County Commissioner, the County Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the County Director of Education and the County Director of the Teachers Service Commission.
