Dormitory commissioning at Lufumbo Girls Secondary School boosts 250-student boarding capacity in Butere Constituency.

Butere Member of Parliament Tindi Mwale, on Monday, presided over the commissioning of a modern 250-student capacity dormitory at St. Cecilia Lufumbo Girls Secondary School, marking a significant dormitory commissioning aimed at strengthening education infrastructure within the constituency.

The event, held at the school grounds, attracted education stakeholders, local administrators, parents, and students who gathered to witness the official unveiling of the newly completed facility.

The dormitory project is part of a broader constituency development programme targeting the expansion and modernisation of learning institutions through continued dormitory commissioning efforts.

Addressing the gathering, Mwale (pictured below) said the project underscores his administration’s commitment to enhancing access to quality education through improved infrastructure. He acknowledged the collective effort of stakeholders who ensured the timely completion of the facility.

“This investment is geared towards providing a safe, secure and conducive learning environment for our students,” he said, noting that adequate accommodation plays a critical role in academic performance and student welfare.

Impact of the Dormitory Commissioning

School management described the dormitory as a major milestone that will significantly ease congestion and improve boarding conditions following the dormitory commissioning.

The 250-bed facility is expected to accommodate learners from remote areas, reduce overcrowding, and enhance discipline and academic focus.

She stated that the improved infrastructure will not only boost student morale but also position the school for expanded enrolment under the broader dormitory commissioning programme.

The MP noted that Lufumbo Girls’ joins a growing list of institutions that have benefited from similar infrastructural upgrades under his tenure. These include Bumamu Girls Secondary School, Mutoma Girls Secondary School, Lunza Boys Secondary School, Butere Girls National School, Eshikomere Secondary School, and Lufumbo Secondary School.

Education stakeholders present lauded the initiative, emphasising the correlation between improved infrastructure and enhanced academic outcomes. Parents welcomed the development, citing improved security and reduced logistical challenges for learners who previously faced accommodation constraints.
