Former Litein Boys High School chief principal Richard Sang has officially taken over leadership at Tarakwa High School in Bomet Central Sub-county, signalling a fresh start in his administrative career.

His new posting comes months after a challenging period at Litein, where a student strike led to massive destruction of property in one of the most widely witnessed school unrest incidents in the region’s recent history.

Following the unrest, Sang was transferred to Baringo Teachers Training College. However, the college’s board reportedly declined to accept his appointment, citing concerns over his recent leadership record.

Despite the setback, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) reassigned him at the beginning of this year to Tarakwa High School in Bomet County.

Since reporting to his new station, Sang has been formally welcomed by the school’s management, students, and members of the local community.

Sources within the institution indicate that learning is progressing smoothly and that the new principal has already begun engaging stakeholders on strategies to improve academic performance and strengthen discipline.

A member of the Board of Management at Tarakwa expressed confidence in Sang’s ability to steer the school forward.

He noted that student strikes are challenges faced by many institutions and should not be used as the sole measure of a principal’s competence.

“What we want as the Tarakwa community is someone who can raise academic standards. Sang has previously demonstrated that he can improve performance wherever he serves,” the board member said.

Before his tenure at Litein Boys, Sang served in several schools within Bomet County, including Kaplong Boys High School, Longisa Boys High School, and Koiwa High School. He built a reputation for strengthening discipline and boosting academic results.

His appointment at Tarakwa is now viewed as an opportunity for renewal—for both the principal and the institution—as stakeholders remain hopeful that his experience will translate into stability and improved performance.
