Nyamira County reaffirms commitment to support ECDE learning

The County Government of Nyamira under Governor Amos Nyaribo has reaffirmed its commitment to support the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learning, saying that it has employed enough teachers to cater for the ever growing number of children enrolling for Early Childhood Education.

Through the speech read on his behalf by Executive Member in charge of Education and Vocational Training, Emily Ongaga, Nyaribo said the County government will embark on the provision of fortified porridge to every PP1 and 2 children in the school and improvement of infrastructure to create conducive learning environment for the children and their caregivers.

He added that each primary school in the county has two ECDE teachers and county will continue employing others in future when chances and finance become available.

“We have succeeded in providing fortified porridge for good nutrition to our children, now we shall embark on the construction of modern classrooms for them.” He said.

The County Minister was speaking at Kiabiraa Primary School when she handed over the modern class room that was constructed by Nyamira County to the Board of school Management.

She said that the spacious classroom was furnished with modern lockers, enough shelves mounted along the walls for storage of food and learning for the young learners and adding that the classrooms has three flash toilets to cater separately for both sexes of the pupils and their caretakers.

She further asked the school management team to harvest water during the ongoing rains in the region and store in the 5000 litres capacity tank that was provided by the government, adding that the rain water will supplement the available water piped water to the school.

Elsewhere, Nyamira County Woman Representative aspirant Josephine Omanwa started the provision of milk to nursery schools in the region yesterday.

Speaking at Igena Itambe Primary School where she distributed 1200 packets of milk to pupils, Omanwa said the project was the initiative of the Country first lady Rachael Ruto who intends to embrace all schools in the country.

“We have started slowly to assist the first lady’s aspirations to see that the children of this country are well nourished.” She said.

She also gave 400 packets to pupils of Kiendege Primary school in Kemera Ward and many assorted books worth Ksh 25,00 for Early Childhood Development in Education( ECDE) in both schools.
