TSC rescinds tough promotion conditions

By John Ochieng

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has rescinded its tough conditions in promotion to headship.
The conditions had to be scaled down after many interested teachers could not meet the set requirements.
In a circular signed by Migori County TSC Director of education, Beatrice Lukalo on the advertised vacancies the conditions were scaled down.
The earlier tough condition required that the applicant must have served as primary school Deputy Head teacher for a duration of not less than three years and must have been in Job Group M.
A head teachers in an acting capacity confided to Education News that the requirements were not excellent enough as they only needed a confirmation into such post, subjecting them to application and subsequently to an interview.
Contacted for comment, a sub-county staffing officer in Homa Bay County who did not want to be named told Education News that the instructions cuts across the Republic of Kenya and they don’t have any say over that.
